What is Data Protection and what is its Purpose?

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the legal basis of European data protection regulation and since 25 Mai 2018, regulates the processing of personal data by companies, state authorities and clubs.

Personal data constitute all information which relate to an identified or identifiable natural person. According to the GDPR, such information includes that, which can be traced back to the genetic, intellectual, economic, cultural and social identity of an individual. The application and possibilities of GDPR transgressions are so wide that start-ups face increasing pressure to ensure compliance from the onset.

The principal purpose of the GDPR is the protection of the fundamental rights and fundamental freedoms of natural persons and, more especially, their rights around the collection and processing of their personal data, as well as the free flow of traffic of such data.

Privacy means people know what they’re signing up for, in plain language, and repeatedly. I believe people are smart. Some people want to share more than other people do. Ask them.
